Terms of Use for Lumie: Kids Bedtime Stories

Welcome to Lumie: Kids Bedtime Stories. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Lumie mobile application (“Lumie,” the “App,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).

By downloading, installing, or using Lumie, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are a parent or guardian allowing your child to use the App, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and your child.

1. About Lumie

Lumie is an interactive bedtime storytelling companion designed to make bedtime calming, engaging, and imaginative for children and parents.

Key highlights of Lumie include:

• Creating unique, calming bedtime tales tailored to favorite themes, characters, and bedtime moods
• Audio narration and relaxing reading experiences
• A private, ad-free environment without social media or tracker interference
• Completely offline local library retention for saved favorites

2. No Account Required & Local Retention

Lumie does not require you to create an account, register an email address, or maintain a profile with us.

Because all data (such as saved stories, reading streaks, and theme preferences) is stored locally on your device, deleting the application from your device will permanently erase all locally stored stories and custom data. We have no access to your local data and cannot restore deleted stories.

3. AI-Generated Content & Parental Guidance

Stories within Lumie are creatively generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence using the OpenAI GPT API.

• Child-Safe System Directives: We employ strict system-level prompt guidelines to ensure all generated bedtime stories are gentle, encouraging, positive, and age-appropriate.
• Parental Involvement: While our safety filters are designed to prevent inappropriate themes, generative AI technology may occasionally produce unexpected phrasing or minor inaccuracies. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in story creation and bedtime reading.
• Informational & Entertainment Purpose: Stories are intended purely for entertainment, relaxation, and creative inspiration. They do not constitute professional behavioral or psychological advice.

4. License and Intellectual Property

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use Lumie on your personal iOS devices for personal, non-commercial, family use.

You may read, recite, and share generated stories within your immediate family circle. You may not sell, commercially distribute, resell, or publicly broadcast the generated content without prior written permission.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Lumie responsibly and lawfully. You agree not to:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code or underlying prompts of Lumie.
• Use the App to generate content that is harmful, offensive, hateful, or inappropriate for children.
• Bypass or attempt to circumvent any security features, parental controls, or usage limits implemented in the App.
• Interfere with or disrupt the normal operation of the App or its network services.

6. Subscriptions, Payments & Cancellations

Lumie may offer optional premium subscriptions or one-time features (such as unlimited story generation or exclusive audio narrations).

• Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing cycle.
• Managing Subscriptions: You can manage and cancel your subscriptions at any time through your iOS device settings (Settings > [Your Apple ID] > Subscriptions).
• Refunds: All billing, invoicing, and refund requests are handled exclusively by Apple according to Apple App Store policies.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Lumie is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the App will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI services will always be available without network delays.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Berat Öner or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the App.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will become effective immediately upon posting to this website. Your continued use of Lumie after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
